Request To Rehome Your Hound

Are you a greyhound trainer? If so, please click here for intake requests.

For All Other Homing Requests:

At The Zoomie Zone, we recognise how difficult it can be to make this decision.  We understand that sometimes, for reasons out of your control, you can be forced into this decision or feel you have no other option left to you.

We are here to help.

We take care in learning, understanding and assessing hounds prior to their coming into our care so that they are placed in the right foster enviroment to meet their needs and give them the best chance to find their new home.

Dogs With Behaviour Issues:

Unfortunately, due to the large number of requests and our limited resources, we cannot take in dogs who have have bitten people, other animals and/or are showing aggression.  If your hound is showing severe behavioural issues, we reccommend contacting a qualified positive reinforcement behaviourist to assist you.

What If We Can't Help?

While we wish we could help every request, due to the large number of requests, and our limited space and resources, we may not be able to assist.

Filling in our request to rehome form below does not guaruntee our help, but every request is reviewed and considered.

If we are unable to help, please go to the Association Of Dogs & Cats Homes website here to find accredited rehoming centres near you that may be in a better position to assist you.

How To Proceed:

Please note, we are breed specific rescue, and can only help with sighthounds.

When filling in the form please:

  • Provide as much infomation as possible.

  • Be prepared to pay for your hound to have an general health check with your vet, prior to coming into our care, and give us access to their veterinary history.  As some of our fosters have existing pets in the home, we do request that all hounds be up to date on their routine treatments such as flea/worming treatments and annual vaccinations before we can agree to take them inBeing neutered is preferable, but we can make exceptions.

  • Be prepared to provide us with photos and videos of your hound, and their behaviour, in various situations for us to assess their suitability for foster placement.  If you are local to Chesterfield, we will carry out these assessments in person.

Important points to consider:

  • In signing your hound into our care for rehoming, you acknowledge and understand that you have no further claim on your dog and that s/he will not be returned to you.

  • Due to GDPR regulations, you will not be given access to the foster or adopters details or location and vice versa.

  • By surrendering a hound to us, you agree to the terms that you will not attempt to contact the new owners via any means, including social media.

  • We will seek a full veterinary history, and have the dog’s microchip details transferred to The Zoomie Zone upon intake.

  • You will be asked to provide photos and video footage of your dog, as part of the application process.  This may be shared with our associated veterinary practice and behaviourist who are not employees of The Zoomie Zone.

Please email thezoomiezone@gmail.com or use our contact form if you have any queries on the above.

By submitting a form for your dog, you agree to the above.
