About Us

The Zoomie Zone started as a passion project in late 2023, offering practical, easy-to-follow advice about what life with a greyhound is all about. Our goal was simple: to support owners and potential adopters while promoting modern, legal, and responsible hound ownership.

What began as a small initiative quickly grew, fuelled by an incredible community.  We never expected to gain much traction, but the support we received humbled us, and, more importantly, it allowed us to help others, even if just in small ways.

At first, we only hoped to improve the life of one hound.  But as time passed, our dreams grew.

We knew that between us, we had the experience, passion, and drive to do more.  By the end of 2024, we took the next step: establishing The Zoomie Zone: Sighthound Rehoming & Pet Care Services, a foster-based rehoming organisation and pet care business with a mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome sighthounds in the UK - ethically, transparently, and with unwavering support.

We’re not just another rescue.  We’re building something better.  Offering a truly personalised rehoming experience, lifelong support for our hounds and their adopters, while also professional and trustworthy pet care services designed to help owners (of all species!) at every stage of their journey.

Whether it’s finding the perfect forever home or ensuring pets receive the best possible care, The Zoomie Zone is here for them - and for you.

Run by a dedicated team of women who share a deep love for sighthounds, and all animals, we are committed to making a real, lasting difference.

Gaby

Trustee - Rehoming & Fostering

With over a decade of experience working in the health and welfare sector, Gaby is a passionate, hard working and dedicated person who understands the importance of caring for others.

Even if the favourite part of her day is getting home to her cheeky, silly, playful, judgemental and bum nipping greyhound who is utterly besotted with her!  But, it wasn't a walk in the part to get to this point with him!

Which is why Gaby knows the importance of a supportive and honest adoption process, and the after care required for those taking home their new companions. This makes her a brilliant addition to our team to ensure we only provide the highest standards of service to everyone involved in the rehoming process.

One of the kindest people on this earth, Karen is a born mediator.  She also has a true talent for guiding and matching people to what they need, rather than what they want, or think, they need which is perfect for rehoming!

Niamh

Behaviour & Training Support

Dogs have always been an important part of Niamhs life, and like many of us, stumbled upon sighthounds by chance...but it didn't take long to get hooked by their loveable quirks!

Working toward her MSc in clinical animal behaviour, Niamh works for another greyhound rehoming charity,  alongside university, while also volunteering her spare time to assist other behaviourists on their cases, group classes and 1-1 training appointments.

Passionate about getting to the root of a hounds problem, and using humane and science backed methods to improve them, we are thrilled to have Niamh on board to help hounds overcome their behaviour barriers, and get adopted into loving homes!

Lisa

Lisa is our resident free-spirit who shames us all in her commitment to stand up to capitalism.  Buying organic fruit and vegetables straight from the farmer, going camping and hiking across Wales on her weekends, foraging wild plants and flowers to make her own eco friendly cosmestics, and making her dream of one day living off-grid in a log cabin, out in the wilderness, away from society with her cat, actually happen!

As an organisation, being kind to the planet is a priority.  With an extensive background within native species conservation and zoo keeping, as well as domestic welfare, Lisa keeps us steering in the right direction in making decisions that have the most minimal impact while still being in the best interest of the hounds!

Hannah

Founder & Director

With a background of in zoo keeping, conservation and wildlife rescue, Hannah turned her hand to domestics some years ago after being inspiried to make the move by a close friend.  In meeting her very first greyhound, she never looked back.

As the proud owner of two wonderful greyhounds. and a sassy chihuahua (who is very much in charge), Hannah opened her home to foster dogs in need, but always wanted to do more.

In building her experience and knowledge, she set about bringing her vision of an honest, transparent, modern and ethical rehoming organisation to life.

In providing passion, leadership, and a little bit of insanity, Hannah brought an unyielding energy in bringing together a group of likeminded individuals to spark The Zoomie Zone into being.

Constantly looking for avenues to take The Zoomie Zone forward, she isn't one to sit still, but is largely involved in overseeing the recruitment and managment of our volunteers while dipping in and out of all things relating to the hounds!
