Your Greyhounds History: Are You Curious?
Have you ever wondered what your hound got up to before you adopted them? There is a very easy way to find out!
Have you ever wondered what your hound got up to before you adopted them? We’ve noticed over the years that not all rehoming centres and rescues give out a greyhound’s history at the point of adoption or beforehand…some don’t even provide their racing names, or any details about them at all! We’ve even seen a hound rehomed by one of the big multi-breed rescues as a 5+ year old with a full race career, when he was actually an unraced pup!
This can make a massive difference to life with your adopted hound, how you exercise them, how you socialise them and many other aspects. Some people don't want young hounds, as they're refered to land-sharks for a reason! Knowing your hounds history, as well as their exact age and other details can be important for many reasons.
While for some adopters it may just be scratching that itch of curiosity in finding out more about the lives their hounds lived before adoption, for others it is finding out everything there is to know about them! Thankfully, there is an easy way to find out!
There is an amazing Facebook group called 'Your Greyhound's History' which is run by a team of phenomenal volunteers. All you need to do it provide them with your hound’s racing name, ear tattoos and/or microchip and they’ll do the rest…easy peasy!
We would highly recommend joining the group, if you haven’t already, and finding out all there is to know about your beautiful hounds! You can find the group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/531069191031946/
