While it can feel a bit odd to have cameras in your house, pet cameras are rapidly rising in popularity and bring peace of mind to dog owners all over the world! They connect to an app on your phone or tablet, allowing you to check in on what’s going on at home no matter where you are.
Whether you want to keep an eye on your dog while building up their separation training or want to keep a general eye on what they get up to while you’re at work, they have many positives, with some even claiming that their pet cams have saved their dogs lives!
There are numerous types of pet camera available. They come in the very budget friendly versions which are perfectly serviceable and do exactly what they say on the tin, but also there are much fancier (and costlier) versions that can be moved remotely, dispense treats, allow you to talk to your dog and can send notifications to your phone should there be any unexpected movement or barking.
If you want to go all out, some even have carbon monoxide/smoke detectors and person alerts built into them that notify your phone of any home emergencies like a break in or fire.
However, for all their benefits, should you be a family that utilises a dog walker, pet sitter or home boarder, bear in mind that you do need to declare that there are recording devices in the house and show them where they are. You don’t want to be recording people without their permission and end up in trouble later!
While it can be quite addictive to constantly check on your dog and watch the pet camera at all hours, the novelty does wear off and you soon learn to only check it at appropriate times. Giving you the desired peace of mind, you were hoping for.
